Proton launched new model to shed dowdy image -- poor quality.

Why Malaysian have to pay more for proton cars when the exported price in foreign land is very much cheaper? The Malaysian Government has imposed high import duty on foreign cars to protect the National Car car industry and make proton car the cheapest among all car available in the country.

This is nothing about protectionism but about making Malaysian paying more for an inferior quality car.

By doing so,  Proton made good sale in the country but sadly Proton being a protected business is making huge loses. Just cant reason this out when every special care has been taken to protect it.

Do we have to pay for the losses through bail out. Bailout is a political business in Malaysia to reap rakyat's money!!

What drove Petronas providing goodies to the rural folks?

Before Petronas took an active role in Swak beginning late 70's - early-80s, Sarawak Shell Bhd (SSB) took an active role in providing local with basic amenities. To name some,  the Piasau Bridge, Old Miri Hospital, road networks at Canada Hill and Piasau, Lutong Airstrip, GCM clubs, SSB Club, Sungai Miri Ferry, were some of the tangible things SSB provide as part of its social obligation to the local.

Now Petronas too provided "Petronas-sponored gravity-feed water pipe system project.", "the Long Latei pre-school - gifts from Petronas", "Petronas CSR project of upgrading the 40-door Kenyah longhouse at Batu Gading beside the Baram River"."Petronas CSR project of providing large water tanks & another five such tanks would be delivered later". but not without vested interest.

Petronas should emulate SSB by providing many more social amenities, provided sponsor dan donations to school, mosques, churches in  the state, scholarship for local as what was practised by SSB many years back.

Nevertheless thanks to Petronas for delivery goodies for the rural folks.
